Aether Nexus has seven worlds through a ring of gateways, open space, and ten planets you land a ship on.
What we did
- Wrote the engine on Three.js; worlds generate in background workers as the player nears each gateway.
- Generated the characters, crowds and terrain in code, and synthesised every sound and each world’s score at runtime.
- Added mounts, weapons, contact racing and a hedge maze that re-rolls its layout on every visit.
- Built the storefront in Next.js: accounts with optional two-factor sign-in, a pass for 30 days of play, and credits through Stripe Checkout.
- Saved progress on the device and merged it across devices through a ledger in Postgres.
